Subject Renewal progress

The SACE Board is committed to ensuring that the broader education community is kept informed of Subject Renewal progress and the activities of the SRGs.

Subjects have been separated into three groups and will progress at different paces, working through four key phases towards implementation, as outlined in our Subject Renewal roadmap. Below is the latest update on the progress of each subject group.

Group 1 subjects

Group 1 subjects will work through the Engage & discover, Develop, and Test, learn & adapt phases in 2025. A new Subject Renewal section for each of the group 1 subjects, provides further updates and artefacts. Click through to view timelines and vision statements for these subjects:

We expect that the progress for some subjects will slow down or speed up depending on the complexity of their subject change. To this end, Workplace Practices and Language and Culture are moving to group 2 to allow more time to work through the Develop phase

During term 2, these SRGs have:

  • Developed updated iterations of their vision statement for the renewed subject
  • Synthesised insights gathered from global research and student perspectives, and explored how these might be incorporated into the renewed subject
  • Drafted subject blueprints that map out a conceptual plan to bring the key drivers to life
  • Generated ideas and concepts for assessment types, learning design and content that map to the subject vision

Next steps for group 1 subjects include:

  • Refining prototype assessment types and learning design for testing
  • Test assessment types and learning design with students in the classroom
  • Capture data and insights to inform evaluation of prototypes

Group 2 subjects

Group 2 subjects will work through the Engage & discover and Develop phases in 2025. During term 2, these SRGs have:

  • Deepened their understanding of, and application of the SACE Board’s key drivers
  • Developed version two of their vision statement for the renewed subject
  • Engaged with students to learn about their experience of that subject and understand how their insights might be incorporated into the co-design of the renewed subject

Next steps for group 2 subjects include:

  • Synthesising insights gathered from global research and student perspectives, and explored how these might be incorporated into the renewed subject
  • Drafting subject blueprints that map out a conceptual plan to bring the key drivers to life

Group 3 subjects

Group 3 subjects will work through the Engage & discover phase in 2025. During term 2, these SRGs have:

  • Deepened their understand of, and application of the SACE Board’s key drivers

Next steps for group 3 subjects include:

  • Developed the first version of their vision statement for the renewed subject that responds to the SACE Board’s key drivers.
