Subject Renewal progress
The SACE Board is committed to ensuring that the broader education community is kept informed of Subject Renewal progress and the activities of the SRGs.
Subjects have been separated into three groups and will progress at different paces, working through four key phases towards implementation, as outlined in our Subject Renewal roadmap. Below is the latest update on the progress of each subject group.
Group 1 subjects
Group 1 subjects will work through the Engage & discover, Develop, and Test, learn & adapt phases in 2025. Click through to the subject web pages to read their subject blueprints that describe the desired impact of the subject and the ideas for Learning Design, Assessment Types and Content.

During term 3, these SRGs have:
- Developed updated versions of their subject blueprint that map out a conceptual plan to bring the key drivers [PPTX 1.2MB] to life
- Designed prototype assessment types, learning design and content
- Undertaken testing of prototype ideas live in classroom settings
- Collected feedback and insights from testing to contribute to prototype evaluation
Next steps for group 1 subjects include:
- Participating in a Learning Event to collaboratively make sense of the experiences of the testing phase
- Develop insights to inform recommendations for next steps
Group 2 subjects
Group 2 subjects will work through the Engage & discover and Develop phases in 2025. During term 3, these SRGs have:
- Refined their vision statement for the renewed subject
- Synthesised insights from students to learn about their experience of that subject and understand how their insights might be incorporated into the co-design of the renewed subject
Next steps for group 2 subjects include:
- Refining their subject blueprints that map out a conceptual plan to bring the key drivers [PPTX 1.2MB] to life
Group 3 subjects
Group 3 subjects will work through the Engage & discover phase in 2025. During term 3, these SRGs have:
- Developed the first version of their vision statement for the renewed subject that responds to the SACE Board’s key drivers [PPTX 1.2MB]
Next steps for group 3 subjects include:
- Engaging with students to learn about their experience of that subject and understand how their insights might be incorporated into the co-design of the renewed subject
- Commence drafting their subject blueprint
