General help

Overview

Welcome to the upgraded SACE website. The new site offers a number of improvements, to improve useability for teachers, schools, and students:

  • It works better on smartphones and tablets, with touch-friendly menus and layouts for users viewing the site with a mobile device. This ‘responsive’ design helps to make the website accessible anywhere, anytime
  • The site is quicker and easier to navigate, through a streamlined menu structure and a ‘mega menu’ that provides one-click access to many more pages from anywhere on the website
  • Website content and hundreds of documents on the site have improved accessibility for people with disabilities and those using assistive technologies.

Structure and navigation

Some key website content has been restructured – popular content is more prominent, and some sections have been reorganised.

The ‘Subjects’ section has been renamed ‘Learning’ and its structure has been revised, making it easier to get to minisites for subjects, VET, and other recognised learning.

The ‘Schools’ section brings together information for teachers and school leaders, with an emphasis on key information about the SACE and SACE operations.

The ‘Students’ section is more prominent and is easier to navigate for students and families seeking key information about the SACE.

These changes are all aimed at reducing the time it takes to find what you need.

Mega menu

We are excited to bring you a new and improved menu structure which incorporates a mega menu. You will no longer have to click through three or four levels of content to find what you need.

Under each primary heading, the mega menu opens up to reveal all the information that sits in that section. This improved user experience will make it easier for you to find the information relevant to you, in one simple step.

Increased focus on news

The homepage now has greater emphasis on news, with room for five news items in a moving carousel. You will be able to find even more information from the homepage alone, without having to delve into the site.

We’ve also improved the ‘News’ section to provide a one-stop information resource for students, schools, media and other stakeholders.

This section is comprised of three key areas:

  • school news
  • events
  • media room.

Student stories will also feature throughout the ‘News’ and ‘Students” sections on the updated site, to maintain an active and vibrant source of information for school communities.

Finding your subject

There are three simple ways to find your subject minisite on the updated SACE website:

  • Subjects A–Z
  • Learning areas
  • Stage 1 and Stage 2 subject lists

Subjects A–Z

A new custom search function will save you time when looking for a subject minisite. The Subjects A–Z search allows you to type in your subject and choose from a list of suggested options. Once your chosen subject appears, you can click this title which takes you directly to each subject minisite.

Learning areas

Subjects are also grouped in nine learning area categories to make it easier to find one or a group of particular subjects. A list of subjects sits under each of these pages. This list of links takes you directly to each subject minisite.

Subject list

We’ve kept a full directory of SACE subjects, separated into Stage 1 and Stage 2 lists, as another way to navigate to your preferred minisite.

Mobile and tablet friendly

An increasing number of our website users access the site on a smartphone or a tablet, with more growth forecast in the future.

The updated website incorporates a fully responsive design, which means the website adapts its display to the device on which it is being viewed. This will significantly enhance your experience of the website across all devices, from full desktop to mobile.

Our new mega menus are also mobile-friendly and make it easier to navigate the website with ‘one touch’.

The new responsive design incorporates three different templates:

  • Desktop view
  • Tablet view
  • Mobile view

Desktop view

The desktop view showcases the new mega menu and will significantly reduce the time it takes you to find all the information you need.

It’s as easy as hovering over the section you want, to reveal the mega menu. All information sitting under these main headings will be displayed in the mega menu.

SACE Board online applications such as workshop bookings, online forums and Schools Online are optimised for use on desktop computers.

Tablet view

The mega menu is also simple to use on any tablet device, such as an iPad. The main headings display in two rows. Simply tap on the section you wish to reveal and the mega menu will drop down.

SACE Board applications such as the Vet Recognition Register and the School Assessment Grade Calculator are not customised for this view.

Mobile view

Navigation is now quick and straightforward on any mobile device. The menu and information is neatly displayed through the ‘hamburger’ icon on the top right side of the screen.

Simply tap through the available menu options.

Please note that SACE Board applications, such as Schools Online, are not customised for mobile view.
