In Stage 1, schools are responsible for assessing student work and then providing the results to the SACE Board. A quality assurance process then verifies these results for the subjects that make up the compulsory elements of the SACE (Personal Learning Plan, and the English and mathematics subjects).

The SACE Board provides Stage 1 results to schools, and reports are generated and used within the SACE Board for planning and development of the SACE.
