In Stage 1 students study the matter that makes up materials, and the properties, uses, means of production, and reactions of these materials. Students develop investigation skills, and explore the interaction between science and society enabling them to become questioning, reflective, and critical thinkers.
What's new in 2017
Redeveloped Stage 1 Chemistry will be taught for the first time in 2017.
Stage 1 subject code 2017: 1CEM10 or 1CEM20
Credits: 10 or 20
Stage 2 subject code 2017: 2CME20
2017 is the last year of teaching the current Stage 2 Chemistry.
From 2017, the SACE Board will no longer select Stage 2 moderation samples for school assessed materials. Teachers will select the moderation sample.
