Students Online — sharing preferences and background information

Overview

Schools should work with students at the beginning of their SACE journey to log in to Students Online and activate their user accounts. The students can then become familiar with the rules of the SACE, set up their sharing preferences, and provide information about their background. Background information provided will be treated confidentially and used only for research purposes.

Sharing preferences set to Y (yes) allow the SACE Board to release:

  1. information to:
    • schools and other places of study that provide assessments for the student
    • authorities or individuals for bona fide research and professional development purposes specifically approved by the SACE Board
    • authorities or individuals with specific written authority from the student to apply for such information
  2. outstanding results to the media
  3. results information to the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

It is recommended that schools produce the declaration checklist (using Schools Online) to ensure that SATAC has the correct information to enable students to access SATAC’s application process. Advise the SACE Board of any changes to the declarations by emailing askSACE@sa.gov.au.

Corrections to personal information

Students should be encouraged to log into Students Online to check that their personal details are correct, advising the SACE Coordinator at the school if they are incorrect.  

Students may ask for corrections to be made to their personal information (e.g. address). Schools should update the SACE Board’s database as appropriate in Schools Online (/connect/schools-online). Sometimes information on the database is not well formatted: for example, house numbers are entered on one line and the street address on another; or there is more than one space between names. This formatting will appear on any student documents produced by the SACE Board, unless the school adjusts it. The SACE Board will not make any changes to student information in Schools Online.

Certificate mailing address

The certificate documents for Stage 2 students will be sent to the address that schools have entered in the SACE Board’s database.

Schools can change students’ personal details in Schools Online no later than the end of the first week in December.

Students with two SACE registration numbers

If a student has been issued with a second SACE registration number, please immediately advise us by emailing askSACE@sa.gov.au.

This happens mainly with students transferring from school to school and from the Northern Territory. It is important for the student that the SACE Board reconciles two SACE registration numbers as soon as possible.
