Location: Adelaide Entertainment Centre – Star Room 
Date: Friday, 10 October 2025 

Moderation Training – Session 1:

Subjects: English, Spiritualities, Religion, and Meaning, Earth & Environmental Studies 
Time: 
Supervisor training: 8:30 am to 12:00 pm 
Moderator training: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm 

Moderation Training – Session 2:

Subjects: Physical Education, Community Connections, Scientific Studies
Time: 
Supervisor training: 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm 
Moderator training: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Description:  

The SACE Board invites Moderators and Supervisors to a dedicated in-person training session, as part of a new initiative designed to enhance your experience and strengthen collaboration. 

This pilot program will explore the benefits of in-person training to inform future training models and ongoing improvement of our assessment panel processes. 

Six selected subjects will participate in the pilot: 

  • Spiritualities, Religion, and Meaning 
  • Earth and Environmental Science 
  • English 
  • Physical Education 
  • Scientific Studies  
  • Community Connections 

During this session, you will: 

  • Deepen your understanding of moderator and/or supervisor roles and responsibilities 
  • Build stronger connections with your moderation team and SACE staff 
  • Engage in discussion of PLATO benchmarking samples and assessment decisions 
  • Strengthen your understanding and application of performance standards 

Key information: 

  • Attendance is strongly encouraged but not compulsory 
  • Attendees will receive payment for participation 
  • This session replaces the need to complete PLATO onboarding, calibration, and subject-specific training, as well as online moderation meetings  
  • If you’re unable to attend in person, PLATO training must still be completed  
  • Please bring your laptop and headphones to access SACE systems  
  • If you have been appointed to multiple subjects, please select one subject to attend in person. PLATO training and online moderation meetings will still be required for any additional subjects
