Chinese (beginners)

Learning to speak, read, and write a second language will deepen your understanding of another culture and of your own language, thus enriching your life. More than one billion people speak some form of Chinese. The language studied in this subject is the modern standard or official version of Chinese known as ‘Putonghua’ in the spoken form and ‘simplified character text’ in the written form. Competency in this language will allow you to pursue careers in interpreting, translation, and health both here in Australia and overseas. Stage 1 and Stage 2 Chinese at beginners level is available to students who have not studied Chinese before.
