*SACE Merits are awarded to students who gain an A+ for that subject, and are selected by a Merit Selection Panel, appointed by the SACE Board, as demonstrating exceptional achievement in that subject. Typically, fewer than 2% of the subject cohort would meet this criterion. Thus, a student may achieve an A+ for a subject but not be awarded a subject Merit.

**The SACE International Highest Achievement Award is awarded to the student with the highest ATAR, together with the use, where necessary, of the highest university aggregate and number of subject Merits to differentiate between students with the highest ATARs.

***The SACE International Highest Subject Achievement Award is awarded to each SACE International student who is the highest achiever in a SACE International subject, where that student has achieved an A+ and the highest numerical equivalent score for the subject. Students whose numerical equivalent scores are the same will be jointly awarded the SACE International Highest Subject Achievement Award. No award will be made where no student has achieved an A+ in a subject.
