IEA scholarships

Funding for assessment research

The IEA offer scholarships for new and innovative research in assessment.

Supporting teachers to research different aspects of education and assessment in their school is a significant part of the Institute of Educational Assessors. To facilitate this, scholarships may be made available to those who wish to delve deeper into pedagogy and assessment practice.

Currently there are two scholarships available, to the value of $5,000 each. We are seeking teachers wishing to explore:

  • A method or protocol for capturing valid evidence of student collaboration in a manner which would be suitable for external moderation. This exploration needs to consider the observable characteristics of good collaboration, how to capture evidence of this in a way that can be moderated at a later date, and how to judge this evidence in a reliable way.

A proposal would need to be submitted indicating the research question that is to be investigated, the reasons why answering that research question is important for educators and the method by which the research would be undertaken. These scholarships are to support action research rather than literature synthesis and analysis.

The findings and final report for both of these projects would need to be finalised by 30 June 2019.
