Special Provisions in Curriculum and Assessment
The SACE Board is committed to providing all students with opportunities for success in completing the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
The Special Provisions in Curriculum and Assessment Policy is a critical strategy that allows alternative arrangements to students whose capacity to participate in an assessment is adversely affected in a significant way by illness, impairment, or personal circumstances. The policy aims to apply the special provisions responsibly, fairly and equitably.
The school is responsible for establishing eligibility, approving and implementing appropriate special provisions for school assessments. For externally marked assessments such as investigations and examinations, the SACE Board makes decisions in regard to eligibility and approval of appropriate special provisions through an application process.
To inform decisions, the school and the SACE Board consider a range of evidence, particularly functional evidence that demonstrates the impact of the student's condition on their ability to participate in the relevant assessment activity.
