SACE First Year Evaluation
Response to the First Year Evaluation
The SACE Board has now provided its response to the First Year Evaluation - the full response is available on the SACE Directions and Actions page.
Report of the First Year Evaluation Panel
The report of the independent panel set up to evaluate the first year of the new SACE has been completed and presented to the SACE Board and State Government for consideration.
The panel considered a range of SACE data, as well as the content of 114 written submissions, numerous meetings with individuals and organisations, and the outcomes of surveys and research.
The evaluation process was supported by a reference committee, with representatives from the independent, Catholic, and government school sectors, and a range of other interested groups.
The evaluation report indicates that overall the new SACE is working as intended, while identifying some issues and making a number of recommendations that will be considered by the SACE Board and Government during the coming months.
The SACE Board's commitment to ongoing improvement will continue throughout this period, and where processes can be enhanced to further support schools or students, they will be.
First Year Evaluation Background
The Evaluation Panel was established in February 2012 to evaluate the first year of the new SACE and provide recommendations for areas of improvement.
The Evaluation Brief and the independent panel's terms of reference were broad, and were designed to facilitate consultation.
The completion of the SACE First Year Evaluation Report honours the commitment made in 2008, by the then Minister for Education and Children's Services, to evaluate the new SACE following its implementation.
