Stakeholder Collaboration

VET Recognition

In June 2009 formal consultation was held on the proposed arrangements for the recognition of vocational education and training (VET) in the SACE.

A large number of submissions were received from stakeholders, including the school sectors, TAFE SA, government agencies, universities, teachers and individuals.

The feedback was analysed and a report prepared for the SACE Board. As a result, a set of Key Directions for the Recognition of VET in the SACE were developed and have shaped the work to develop the policy for recognition of VET in the SACE.

Statement of Commitment on VET

In the latter half of 2009 the Training and Skills Commission and the SACE Board of South Australia formed a collaborative working relationship to consider their mutual and legislative responsibilities for vocational education and training - the Commission as the body responsible for monitoring the quality of the VET sector, and the SACE Board as the body responsible for recognising VET within the SACE.

The outcome of this process is a Statement of Commitment, signed by the Chair of the Training and Skills Commission, and the Presiding Member of the SACE Board of South Australia, and a Memorandum of Agreement which outlines the respective responsibilities and obligations of the two organisations in respect of VET undertaken by school students.
